Rachel E. Kopp works with the Firm’s international and domestic securities practice group and is heavily involved in a number of major cases, including In re Parmalat Securities Litigation, No. 04 Civ. 0030 (LAK) (S.D.N.Y.); In Re Converium Holding AG Securities Litigation, No. 04 Civ. 7897 (DLC) (S.D.N.Y.); and Welmon v. Chicago Bridge & Iron Co. N.V., No. 06 Civ. 01283 (JES) (S.D.N.Y.). She has also worked on In re Pharmaceutical Industry Average Wholesale Price Litigation, MDL No. 1456 (D. Mass.).
Ms. Kopp earned her law degree from Villanova University Law School in 2003 and her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Maryland in 2000.
During law school, Ms. Kopp served as a legal intern with the Civil Rights Division of the US. Department of Justice in Washington, D.C.; VH1 Save The Music; the mediation program of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit; and Philadelphia and New York Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts. She also served as president of Villanova Law School's Sports and Entertainment Law Society, and received a Public Interest Fellowship in 2002.
She is admitted to practice in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, as well as in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.
Ms. Kopp is actively involved in the American, Pennsylvania and Philadelphia Bar Associations. Most recently, Ms. Kopp was elected as the Financial Secretary of the Philadelphia Bar Association Young Lawyers Division Cabinet and a member of the YLD Executive Committee (2008-2011), where she co-chairs the YLD’s Legal Education and Law School Outreach Committee. She was also appointed as the ABA Young Lawyers Division liaison to the ABA Standing Committee on Membership and is serving a two-year term as the ABA Young Lawyers Division District Representative to the PA Bar Association. Ms. Kopp previously served as Editor-in-Chief of The Affiliate, one of two nationally-distributed publications of the ABA Young Lawyers Division (2007-08), the PBA Young Lawyers Division House Delegate (2007-08) and Chair of the PBA’s Law Student Division (2006-07).
Ms. Kopp frequently speaks on issues affecting young lawyers. Recently, she was a panelist on the ABA's Networking During the Holidays teleconference (2009) and a speaker for the Lancaster Bar Association CLE entitled "Critical Linkages: Justice, Diversity, Inclusion, and Innovation." Additionally as part of the 2008 Mid-Year meeting of the Pennsylvania Bar Association’s Commission on Women in the Profession in Philadelphia, Ms. Kopp spoke on a panel entitled, "Say What? Enhancing Communication Across the Generations." The panel focused on developing best practices for promoting effective communication among women lawyers from different generations.
